ODA P5G Connect is a Private Network enablement App for Private 5G and LTE networks. It gives Android devices what public operators get from the carrier settings and APNs built into Android, for private networks that Android's built-in configuration doesn't cover. This tool is a Proof of Concept showing that the parameters missing for Private 5G can be implemented on standard Android devices. It was provided by ODA member networkfx. How it works Once a SIM or eSIM grants the App carrier privileges, the app delivers the network's configuration directly to the device: the APN; carrier settings; standalone 5G (SA) enablement; roaming and network-selection policy; the "Private Network" designation introduced in Android 17 A new policy ships as an ordinary App update. No OEM firmware, no carrier partnership with Google and no MDM are required.
The tool reads the Private Network configuration of every attached Android device and compares them side by side. Read-only, no root, nothing is written to the handsets.
Working group specifications, charters, and requirements documents are publicly available at every stage — from first draft through ratification.
